Help! I don't understand why this thing isn't working. Here's my system:

    Win XP Pro
    1 gig ram
    2.4ghz Athlon
    tons of hard drive
Nvidia GeForce Ti 4200 video card

Shouldn't this thing work on my machine? It's weird as hell. In some windows, it doesn't refresh. And if I drag another window across one of the problem windows, it leaves trail marks. Someone please help! Thanks.

I'm just speculating but it might be the old Adobe Premiere slowdown problem. Premiere used to run really badly until you disabled playback an external monitor/camera. I don't know Avid but see if there's a way to disable playing out the viewing window to an attached device ie. your dv camera or a monitor. In Premiere the option was called 'Miror playback on desktop'.

Like I say, I'm not overly familiar with Avid Express DV but this might be worth looking in to. Or I could be completely wrong.
